101 Ways eBook Submission FAQ’s

We have had many requests for more information as to how to prepare the submission for the eBook, what to write about and many other topics and we felt that an FAQ page would help answer many of these queries.

Do I have to own a property to submit an article?
Yes.  For all but the “I’m a guest” chapter, you must be a property owner with a current listing and/or website.  Although we are permitting links to other vacation rental websites, the primary link will be to your property.

How long can my article be?
Anything from 250 – 750 words although we have had a great submission that is over 900 words.  If the content is great, we’ll be happy to include a longer one or we may need to edit it down a little.

What should I write about?
Think about what you do that wows your guests.  Perhaps you leave a great gift basket with local produce, or you are super-pet-friendly and welcome guests with pets in a special way.  Maybe you go out of your way to ensure your guests know what is on in the area and book theatre tickets and golf tee times for them.   If your guests have commented on something you do then that is probably what make them write a great review, so describe what that is.

What if it’s something I did before they booked?
You can wow your guests long before they get to your property, by your listing or your communication with them, so that would also make a great topic.

Can I include photos
If you have an image that is related to your tip or idea, we may include it in the ebook. Once we have shortlisted the articles we will contact you to submit you photos should your article be chosen to be included but please indicate on the submission form if you have photos you would like to include.

We have some great reviews – can I include a link to them?
We encourage you to include snippets from your reviews and testimonials that illustrate what you are writing about – so if you are wriitng about all the information you provide and a guest comments on how helpful that was, make sure you send that to us as well.

What do I say about myself?
Start off your submission with a brief statement of who you are, where your place is and how you manage it – whether you are on site, use a property manager, or manage it from a distance.  Readers will be interested in how it works for you.

What should I include in the bio?
We want this to be a really comprehensive resource for people, so if you have a vacation rental-related  business you can include a link to it as well as a brief promotion.  We want to make it easy for readers to find out more about you and your business.
